Gary Beale is co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Emblation Limited. In the five years since its forming, Mr Beale has been responsible for the continual expansion of Emblation’s research and development departments resulting in state-of-the-art energy based products used in fields of Podiatry and Dermatology, in addition to bespoke microwave generator design and manufacture for Global Healthcare companies.
Mr Beale's experience in medical microwaves spans over 20 years, starting with his PhD research in novel microwave power and communication applications. After a hiatus as Principal Engineer in the development of military and commercial microwave products with Thales, he joined Microsulis Medical in Edinburgh, Scotland, later becoming Director of Product Development at Microsulis Americas in Waltham, MA, where he headed up the research and development activities in the fields of Gynecology and Vascular Surgery. In addition to Microwaves, Mr Beale also led next generation drug-eluding stent research programs at Boston Scientific in Natick, MA.
Mr Beale holds a Bachelors (Honors) degree in Engineering and a Master of Science (Distinction) in Digital Systems and Communication, both from Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh. Mr Beale is also author of a number of patents and peer reviewed publications in numerous international scientific and medical journals including Nature.

Eamon McErlean is co-founder and Technical Director of Emblation Limited. Mr McErlean has been responsible for leading the strategic technical direction of the business, resulting in the development of compact, light-weight generators and the pioneering application of microwaves in the fields of Podiatry and Dermatology.
Mr McErlean's experience spans over 15 years in both the academic and industrial sector, including research and development positions at Heriot-Watt University where he held the Proof of Concept Research Fellowship and consulted on research projects with Agilent Technologies, BAE Systems, Rutherford Appleton Laboratory (RAL) and Frazer Nash Research. He has been published in a number of peer reviewed scientific and engineering journals for microwave applications, including research into cryogenic microwave filter design, novel microwave antennas and advanced high power micro-fabricated microwave structures, in addition to patenting and commercialising IP in a number of technical sectors.
Mr McErlean was awarded the Master of Philosophy degree in Engineering from Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh for research carried out into novel antenna design.

Dr Peter Smith has researched and developed microwave antennas for over 10 years. As a researcher then a lecturer at Heriot-Watt University, his interests were in the synthesis of printed and waveguide fed antennas. He has also managed several large, commercially successful development projects for clients of a global EMS provider. Products included a class II medical monitor, high voltage and high power equipment; as well as battery operated hand-held devices for safety critical applications.
Dr Smith has held senior management and engineering positions with a number of OEM medical device organisations in the UK and the US and has led the development of various microwave tissue ablation systems.

Derek Charge's experience spans over 20 years in various roles from production, service and support, with particular focus on product management and development. He has broad based engineering knowledge gained at Ferranti Defence Systems where he specialised in military radar products and has vast experience of commercial product management through positions held at SKF CMC where the product range covered applications in medical and commercial hand portable data collection devices.

Jonathan Williamson is responsible for sales and marketing activity at Emblation Limited. Since joining the organization in 2011, Jonathan has driven the marketing strategy and managed the implementation of commercial activities, including identifying and prioritizing new product opportunities, developing online marketing resources and managing company presence at international conferences and events.
Prior to joining Emblation, Jonathan held positions at global investment group Aberdeen Asset Management, where he worked between the Group Marketing and E-Marketing desks, and leading Scottish marketing consultancy FennonMcrae, managing marketing activity and strategy for some of Scotland’s fastest growing technology companies in areas including Renewable Energy, Banking Software and Oil and Gas.
